For another route through Bangkok, take the Chao Phraya River Clipper past the main attractions and head to the city center – the palace.
Once the residence of the king, the Grand Palace is now a venue for royal ceremonies and dignitaries. The complex dates back to 1782 and is decorated with gold and stained glass. The temple is widely regarded as one of the most revered figures. The Emerald Buddha is 66 cm tall and carved from semi-precious stones. It is believed that the statue protects the country and brings legitimacy to the king and is a symbol of Buddhism.
